Having worked in publishing myself, I have the experience that professional publishers need. It’s not just that I have the editorial skills – although I am a top-notch development editor, copy editor and proofreader – but also that I understand the processes involved. In practice, that means I ask the right questions, make the right changes and clarify anything that needs it.
I work on both fiction and reference works and on books, journals and magazines.
What types of edit do you offer publishers?
I provide various levels of editing, all on an ‘as needed’ basis. My clients ask me to undertake developmental edits, copy edits, proofreads and sensitivity reads. I can edit on screen using track changes, collaboratively using Adobe applications or on hard copy, whichever suits.
Publishers often ask me to liaise directly with authors and incorporate author amends and feedback.
